YES FTA Mobile Consulting Service
Korea Customs Service begins operations of YES FTA Mobile Consulting Service starting this March in order to support SMEs which cannot afford to visit customs offices for consultation in utilizing FTAs. The service will reflex businesss need as much as possible by separating the method of supporting SMEs visiting enterprises signed up for the service or targeting the ones within certain regions. During the onsite visit, customs officials will be accompanied by public customs broker to provide comprehensive consultation and introduce them to funding programs if needed. In particular, customs officials are to provide technical advises in areas such as tariff classification, origin criteria and preferential tariff rate that businesses having difficulty with. Meanwhile, Korea Customs Service has been supporting businesses to enjoy the benefit of FTA. Indeed, the mobile consulting service supported 1,092 businesses last year and their amount of export to FTA partner countries increased by 20% year on year. Companies can apply for YES FTA mobile consulting service through KCS FTA webpage and at the customs offices. Notification of Changes in Origin Criterion under Korea-US FTA
The basis of the Origin Criteria under the Korea-US FTA on HS2002 has been changed to HS2012 since January 1,, 2014. Hence, the exporter exporting to the US is to make out Certificate of Origin based on the HS code(s) of the Origin Criteria as stipulated in the Attached amended on January 1,, 2014. * As the basis of the origin criteria has been changed from HS2002 to HS2012, integration, segmentation, elimination, addition and/or other change of contents of the origin criteria have occurred. * Attached English and Korean version of Annex IV (a) and Annex VI (a) of Korea-US FTA14.0103
